Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find the right host?
Search for a space near you based on location and size requirements. Confirm with the host if their space is appropriate for your items. Discuss with the host your expectations around access and communication. StoreNextDoor acts as a platform to connect host and renter. That is all. If you feel as though something isn't right with the host and their space, don't proceed with the arrangement.
What if I'm not sure about the renter?
StoreNextDoor acts solely as a platform to connect renter and host. Here are some suggestions for making sure the interaction is a positive one and you understand each other's expectations:
- Confirm with the renter how long they want to store with you for.
- Confirm with the renter how regularly they would need to access the items.
- Confirm with the renter they are not storing anything dangerous/illegal.
- Confirm with the renter whether their items are weather/temperature sensitive.
- Confirm with the renter how they would like to pay? Monthly? Cash up-front? Bank transfer etc.
- Keep record of your interactions for reference if anything is to be disputed in future.
- If anything doesn't feel right, don't proceed with the arrangement.
How do I post my space to rent?
Follow the steps through our menu to 'Sign Up'. Fill out all the required details. Provide as much information you can about your space, providing photos, dimensions, and any additional necessary information. This will help potential renters decide if your space is right for them.
What happens if my items are damaged?
StoreNextDoor acts solely as the platform to connect renter and host. There are always risks associated with storage; including weather damage, break-ins, or general wear and tear. StoreNextDoor has no involvement with the renter and host once they connect through the website. Therefore, any damages that occur to items stored need to be addressed privately between renter and host. StoreNextDoor takes no responsibility for damage that may occur to items stored.
What happens if I want to cancel my agreement?
The terms of the agreement between renter and host should be clearly stated before entering into the agreement. When doing so, outline things such as cancellation terms. This ensures that if anything unexpected does occur, it has been factored into the arrangement and can be resolved.
What type of spaces can I offer?
Any unused space you think someone would find useful! The beauty of StoreNextDoor is that we want to help you monetise your unused space; whether it be a room, attic, garage, shed, cupboard, if you have the space, we want to help you earn.
Can I set my own price for my space?
Absolutely! To make your price range appealing to potential renters, it's worth considering some of these factors into your pricing:
- Security
- Size of space
- Accessibility
- Length of availability
If you set your pricing too high, you will be less likely to get engaged leads for your listing.
